  Carl Sagan
I watched this video the other day... a "debate" between an IDer and a skeptic. "Talking past each other" is too loose a metaphor. Science does something. Religion does something else.

I wrote a while back about how shrill many evolutionists get when debunking ID.

I read this essay by Carl Sagan with this quote:
The chief deficiency I see in the skeptical movement is its polarization: Us vs. Them -- the sense that we have a monopoly on the truth; that those other people who believe in all these stupid doctrines are morons; that if you're sensible, you'll listen to us; and if not, to hell with you. This is nonconstructive. It does not get our message across.
I mourn the loss of a voice of reason ten years ago today.

Comments:
carl sagan rocks. have you read contact? it's better than the movie. you should read asimov's essays too. you would probably like them.

I can't believe it has been 10 years. It seems like just yesterday. Let me know if you want to read some Asimov as well. I have a few of his books you can borrow next time your up this way.

Asimov's good... I liked foundation.

Sagan was his best with non-fiction, imho. Demon haunted world ruled the school.
