They have words

November 4th, 2007

Gavin uses words to describe music after warning us words shouldn’t be used to describe music:

She plays for herself. She slips away somewhere and even the rain feels shy about interrupting. The shocking sound from my camera’s shutter seemed to explode through the air and offend something much bigger than myself.

And then Swong takes much more detail and nuance from ascii art than my pea-sized imagination could muster:

Water is gradually slopping off of the cliff to the north, muddying the valley floor as it makes its way back to the brook. The ground down there is a mess right now; hope I can rebuild the road before the caravans come in.
